If you work on your computer where other people can see sometimes you want to hide things quickly. Or maybe you just want to take a break and don't want everything on your computer available to other people. One thing you can do is to have your screen blank out after a certain time and require a password on waking it you but you don't want to have to wait for that to happen. Any time you want to lock your machine quickly you just hold down the Windows key and press the "L" This will immediately lock the computer till your password or pin code is put in. While this will work for all Windows based computers whether desktop or laptop, it won't work for Macs. On a mac with an optical drive you can press control + shift + eject. If it is a newer Apple computer you press command + control + shift. As a special for clients in Kansas City, MO please comment on this post and I will give you 10% off your next service.
If you have ever done something on your computer but wished you hadn't there is s shortcut key that may help. Just like in programs like Word or Excel where there is an undo button you can perform the same thing by holding down the Ctrl key and the Z. In many cases this will undo the last action. Unfortunately this doesn't work on everything but in cases like where you moved a file to the wrong location this will work great.
I think that at some point everyone has done this. You find an interesting site on the internet and before you are done you accidentally close the tab. This can be especially annoying if you don't remember what the site is. Here is a keyboard shortcut that will bring back that closed tab. On a PC hold down the control key and the shift key. Then hit the "T". Then the tab will just come back. On a Mac you can do the same thing, Just hold down the command key, the shift key, and hit that "T"
It seems odd to me but some people think that we are in Mission Kansas that is all the area that we cover. That isn't true. We cover all of the metropolitan Kansas City area. We have done work for the Wyandotte county Jail as well as many people in Kansas City Kansas. Just the other day we were helping a company fix networking problems in Parkville. South Kansas City? Yes, we do that as well Just the other day we did a screen replacement and virus removal for people from Leawood. No matter where you are give us a call and we can help.
Here is a cute little comic funny It reminds me of when I first started working on computers. If the problem was big enough that it needed to come into the shop for repairs I would frequently get the response "That's alright. I will just work on other things till it gets back. Can you imagine that happening today? If your computer ever does need to come to us we do rent machines for $50 for as long as we have yours. If you need a loaner laptop or desktop computer, but aren't having us service your machine, you can still rent one from us.

Here is a new virus that is spreading through the web. This is something that installs a virus on your computer that watches what you do and waits to steal banking information. How it works. 1) You go to a bad website by either typing a wrong address or clicking on a search result that has been temporarily put up. 2) The site convinces you to download a Word Document. 3) This document claims it needs to update in order to be seen. ![]() (Image source Cisco)
Do not choose the enable editing! This is what infects your computer. You won't even know you are affected. From this point forward you will have a spy transmitting information when you log onto sites. If you think you have done something like this contact me immediately so we can get your computer cleaned up. To avoid this kind of thing, NEVER download anything from the internet unless you are certain of the source. If you did see this image, but didn't chose the "enable editing or "enable content" you are still safe. |
