Inexpensive web site?  Prepare

4/30/2013

Web sites come in all sizes and complexities.  While we do build sites the toughest question we are asked is "how much?"  We have made sites for as little as $50 but YOU have to prepare.  Colors is free.  Lots of graphics are free.   What takes the most time it design and creating the copy.  If you know what you want it to say you save a lot of time.  If you do your research to find sites you like, you save design time.  If you know what you want your site to do (inform, sell, simple presence, download resource, etc.,) We can do all things more quickly.

Windows isn't genuine

One thing - be careful.  There are two different messages that computers are getting.  Both of them say "Your copy of Windows isn't genuine"  One has the option to call Microsoft.  The other has a link to click.  Do not click the link.  The message with the link will install a virus.  Bring it in for us to do virus removal.  If you have the one that allows you to call Microsoft, don't panic.  It is just a mistake in their programs and the pho

Cheap notebook repair made expensive

Lots of things can be fixed by the inexperienced.  Laptop repairs aren't one of them.  We all like to save money.  Some of us are handy with a screwdriver and are curious.  Repairing notebooks can be tricky.  LOTS of screws hidden in strange places.  Many parts that are snapped together but don't, easily snap apart, and there are lots of cables in strange places that are connected oddly.  Many of these parts are not replaceable.  If you still want to try your own laptop repair do some homework.  Search the web for your exact model notebook and try to find a repair vid

Cheap Computer Repair

4/16/2013

I'm not talking about taking your machine to the cheapest computer repair shop.  I want to tell you how to avoid situations that make it more expensive to have your computer repaired:
1)    If you get an error message do your best to write it down

2)    While you don't want to worry if you have a problem one time, if your computer continues to have the same error you need to consider getting it fixed.  Just like your car, if your computer has problems and you ignore them they can continue to get worse.

3)    Try to pay attention to when the error occurs.  If it is only when you run a certain program or go to a particular web site it is good to know.

Remember the more information you give us, the faster we can get directly to the problem.  The faster we work, the cheaper your computer repair is for you.

We are in Mission so we are convenient to anyone in Overland Park.  If you have questions give us a call

Faster Internet

Does your internet seem slow?  Have you talked with your provider and they say that you are getting good service?  You may need a new cable modem.  Cable modems come in different speeds.  Just like everything else, as technology gets faster you need to get faster equipment.  Cable modems started with a standard known ad DOCSIS1.1  Now they are up to DOCSIS3.1  To find out what you have, look up the model number on the manufacturer's web site.  If yours is old technology you MAY be able to negotiate with your provider for something new or you may just have to purchase one.  We are in Mission, KS so we are also convenient to anyone in Lenexa or Fairway. If you need help just give us a call.

Faster machine

Are things slow?  Do you need a new computer?  Will cleaning help?  Do you need to add memory?  Give us a call and we can help you find what is best for you.  First we discuss what is slow for you.  Sometimes it is just the internet.  If that is the case we help you figure out if there is something wrong with your service or if you need to purchase more speed.  If that isn't the problem then we can look at your computer to figure out if it just needs computer speed up, a memory increase or if it is time for a new computer.

Tough question and there are a lot of factors:  How current is your software?  Does your machine need repairs?  Even when it works does it work fast enough?  There is also the consideration of finding out if your old software will work on a new machine or if you will have to buy new programs.  Give us a call and we can help you wade through the process.
