Greeting cards are fun - right?

Email greeting cards are a fun. fast way to send birthday cards, invitations and other announcements.  They are usually free and there are lots of options.

Unfortunately it is also a great way that hackers can infect your computer.  They can send fake cards to you that , wen opened, cause you lots of problems.  Fortunately these are easy to avoid.  If you don't know the sender avoid opening it.  If you think it may be legitimate look for things like misspellings in the message.  If the message asks you to follow a link to download the card it is almost certainly a scam.

Another choice is, if you don't recognize the name of the card company, Google it to see if there are warnings or complaints.

Texting and dialing the phone while driving have become a big hazard. People are saying that distracted driving can be as bad as drunk drive as far as safety concerns.  Sometimes it's hard to ignore that beep and continue driving.  Sometimes you may want to be able restrict your, or your children's use while driving.  Here are a few apps that can help:

Cellcontrol (https://www.cellcontrol.com/) blocks and phone from receiving or sending texts.  It works with a phone app and a device that installs in the car to detect motion.  You do have to buy the device for $129.  This has additional features.  You can log on to the website to see if the device has been disabled, how fast they are traveling and where the car is at anytime.

Sentinel:  (https://www.drivewithsentinel.com/) Is one of the most expensive options but has lots of features.  The cost is $249 per car and $25 per month.  With this service you get a text if the person tries to use the phone while driving.  You can also get messages if the car leaves a designated zone or is out later than allowed.  It will also give alerts to the driver to remind them to turn off the phone.

Drive Safe Mode (http://drivesafemode.com/) is free.  This ap uses the phone to determine motion.  If the phone uses text or and mobile ap while moving you can be notified this is happening.
