The day after Christmas and lots of new electronics were given. If you need any help transferring you data give us a call.
Sometimes it just isn’t worth it to mess with the manufacturer. I have a client
with a Toshiba notebook that is displaying the error: Your cooling system is malfunctioning. Please shut down the computer and contact the manufacture for repair instructions. Toshiba wanted to tell them that they needed to diagnose whether it was hardware or a software problem for $160.00. Then, if it was a hardware problem, it would take 2-weeks to ship to them, get it repaired and shipped back. For less then the diagnostic, and in 24-hours we were able to replace the defective part. We now have many notebook screens in stock and can do the replacement in 1-day. Frequently, if you bring it in the morning we can have it ready the same day.
We have been getting a lot of computers in for removing the FBI virus. The latest one from Leawood. Please understand that if the FBI wants to contact you they won’t do it through email or a popup on your computer.
The main defense to avoid this virus is to keep your Windows updated and NEVER download things from a site that you don’t know is reliable. I really can’t believe what some computer places do: One client From Overland Park brought in a Sony laptop. She had just had work done on it somewhere in Kansas City, KS. They charged $100 just to look at the machine. Then they charged $250 to replace the power jack. 24-hours later she brought it back to them because it stopped turning on, again. They were going to charge another $100 to look at it. She brought it to us. The only problem with the computer was her power cord. For $36 everything was fixed. Whenever you take your machine anywhere make sure you understand their guarantee. Also try to talk with them long enough to make sure they appear that they actually want to help.
Oh, and they also didn’t put the computer back together correctly. We fixed the wires that were out of place. I felt so bad about how much she had already spent, at the other place, that we didn’t charge her for it. |
