Blue Screen of Death?

Ever see anything like this before?

I'm sure you have heard it called the "blue screen of death" but it isn't, necessarily that scary.  As this says there is a problem with your computer and Windows stopped.  Sometimes this can just be a problem that needs the computer to be restarted and everything will be fine.  Sometimes it is an indication that there is a problem with some piece of hardware or software.  Here are some steps to try to narrow it down:
  1. While there is a lot on this screen you only need to make note of 2 areas - The first part after the problem line. In this case "page_fault_in_nonpage_area". Also make a note of the first part of the last line.  "ati3diag.dll"  the rest of the information rarely is helpful.
  2. If this is the first time you have seen this message just restart your computer.  If it doesn't reoccur for a while I would assume that it just something that requires your computer to need to be restarted on occasion.  If it happens more than twice a week you need to look deeper
  3. If this is a continuous problem try to remember the first time you got the message.  If you added any hardware remove it,  If you did any software updates try removing them.
  4. If you can't get to any of the options for software removal you should get to a screen that gives you start up options.  Try "last known good configuration".  If that doesn't work try "safe mode with networking."
  5. If none of that works you can search the internet for the error message you got or contact us with it.  The more information we have the faster we can help.
